LinkedIn have reached 100 million users

26Mar11

LinkedIn announced today that they have reached 100 million users! It’s taken the company 8 years to reach this milestone. Reportedly, they are now growing at roughly one member per second.

It’s interesting to note that the biggest growth is outside of the USA. In particular, Brazil is LinkedIn’s fastest-growing country. For cross-cultural marketing needs, having a single place to connect and share information with other professionals is invaluable. So much better that international relationships can be fostered.

The LinkedIn team has released some interesting facts about their growth and membership on their blog.

  • Their fastest-growing country is Brazil, with 428% growth rate
  • 56% percent of LinkedIn users are outside of the United States
  • 9% percent of users work in finance
  • Another 9% are in the high-tech industry
